SMI SK 452 T Shrink Packer (2002)

Overview

This SMI SK 452 T is a shrink packer for PET bottles, built in 2002 by SMI (Italy). It collates bottles into pack formations, wraps them in shrink film and shrinks the film in the integrated heating tunnel, at an output of up to 30,000 bottles per hour. It handles 0.5 l, 0.75 l, 1.0 l and 1.5 l bottles in 3x2 packs and 0.5 l bottles in 4x3 packs, and has a pass-through mode for running bottles unpacked.

The wrapping section is fully enclosed by safety guarding with viewing windows. The machine has been running as the shrink packer of a PET bottling line for water and is still installed and under power, so it can be inspected in production.
